Are my controls, like the words that say "horn", the left arrow, right arrow etc etc supposed to be back lit so the light shines through the words on the button?

No the OEM are not illuminated, but I had a warranty problem with the left switches and at the time I requested a swop out for the illuminated ones and just paid the difference in the price.

It would make too much sense to have them illuminated. My only problem is I can never find the horn button during a panic event. I just use my middle finger.

CVO Limited has illuminated buttons. They are a dealer add on for other bikes.

With help from one of the posts, I found the illuminated switches. Had them installed and did my first night ride. Until I get accustomed to the differences, glad I installed them. As always thanks.

Can you adjust the switches like a dimmer switch in a car?

If you're serious, try horntrigger.com

I installed one on my RK. Now I hit the horn when I want the turn signal.

My GL1800 did not have this capability.
