Cruise control switch cleaning.

Cruise control switch cleaning.
I use my cruise quite often due to the arthritis in my hands. Out for a ride and the cruise was on and in use. The cruise then started shutting off all by itself. I would reactivate it , it would come on then off again. Finally the cruise would not turn on at all. Happened to be in the area of a dealership. Pulled in there. Asked one off the service reps about the situation. He said probably switch went bad blah, blah, blah. It's so much an hour to look at it. I said screw this, went home, got some electronic contact cleaner and sprayed it in the switch housing while holding a paper towel under it. Two quick shots , waited about ten minuets went for ride , now its working like new. No problems since. Jr

Hope that fixes it but there is more than the engage switch is involved here.
Front brake, rear brake and the clutch all have switches that can cause the cruise to drop out.
What year is your bike?
On mine (08) there is a cruise diagnostic that will tell you if all the switches are working. This is something to look into if it happens again.
