Zumo a no go so...........

My wifes car GPS went belly up. Before just getting another one I thought I should also consider something that could do dual duty on the bike.

From a cost perspective a Zumo is just completely out of the picture. I understand the benefits and features for a rider but $$$$ talks.

I am sure some of you guys are using a more standard GPS - what has worked well for you and what type of mount. (I hear RAM gets high marks)

Garmin Nuvi and ram handlebar mount and bracket works GREAT for me. I have a ompensator Assembly replaced. Total cost $200

I have a Garmin 3760 nuvi I got new for $200. I run it in the truck, car and bike. I really like it! $6 ebay handlebar ball mount works fine. I did spring for a $20 hardwire kit for the bike.

I second all these comments. A Zumo may be nice, but you can get almost the same thing for $500 less ....

I had a tomtom xl and it worked just fine..I bought a cheap handlebar mount from ebay...

Using a Nuvi 255wt and a Ram Mount...rock solid. Have maybe $200 total invested.

I got a nuvi 780 it has an audio out that can plug into your aux port on your radio, FM broadcast so you can play ith through your radio and hs an sd card. It is a discontinued model but I got it on ebay for around 75 bucks and use a ram mount on the bike and the suction mount in the car.

I use "RAM" that mounts on my H/B. My Nuvi 1300 works great. I paid maybe $140. If it takes a crap I'll try the Nuvi 550 which is for motorcycles around $299.

If you get a Garmin, get one that has "LMT" after the model number. Lifetime Maps Traffic. Or at least "LM". Lifetime Maps. I think the lifetime maps is $90 if purchased for a unit that does not have them...
