Going from 1.5" to 2.5" Rush baffles on Street Glide
Hi! I haven't been around in quite a while...
Anyway, I have a stock 2011 Street Glide with Rush mufflers and the 1.5" baffles. I believe Rush used to recommend this size if you didn't upgrade the air cleaner or fuel module and didn't remove the catalyst. Now, they are recommending 2.5" baffles.
I'd like for my bike to be louder. Not obnoxious, but certainly a little louder than it is now. I really only want to make changes to the mufflers/baffles now, not do a full stage 1 upgrade.
My questions... Will going up to a 2.0" baffle be better for a little more volume or will I not notice much of a difference? Do I need 2.5" to notice a difference?
Thanks everyone...

I think I may be messed up. I may have 2" baffles in there now. I honestly don't remember for sure. I'll try to figure that out tonight. I know Rush now recommends 2.5" baffles, but I swear they used to either recommend 1.5" or 2.0" when these bikes with the cats first came out. They've probably tried enough 2.5" to recommend that size now.
Thanks everyone. If we assume I have 2" baffles in there now, I know the 2.5" would make it louder. How much louder is the question, I guess? Any thoughts on that?

The 2.50" is recommended for a stock cat equipped bike. The 1.75" and 2.00" were recommended before the cats. Each baffle size increase will be a noticeable step louder and is about 3db.
You can use the 2.50" baffle on a stock 2011. Tuning is always recommended and should be checked but for the majority of bikes tuning will not be required with your setup.

nice having a Rush rep on the forum!
I am going to hijack a little, since the OP got his question answered:
I have a 2012 RG with a 2010 2:1 decatted headpipe.
I just bought a Rush 2 INTO 1 PERFORMANCE MUFFLER w/2" BAFFLES off of eBay
should I go with a smaller baffle? I am looking for quality tone and performance. Also, A/C is stock, do I need to retune? I know I will eventually, but I am curious as to the "urgency" I should have.

i have the 2.5'' in mine with dresser duals, and yes it is good bit louder, i love the sound of them. ryan advised me of the noise differance and he knows what he is talking about. it was just the sound io was looking for. for most they say its lil more than they would want to cruising long trips. perfect for me on any trip long or short
