Default Who Installed Passing lamps on FLHX 06-07

I tried to look up in the post but couldn't find the good ones.

What was the hardest thing in the installation? Any wire splicing? Did you have to buy new turnsignals?

Thank You for your Time and Consideration!

no splicin...dont have to buy new signals...hardest thing was fishin all wires thru the little holes and tightenin in order...took a few trial runs before i got it....so do it on the bench complete and tight...then install each side

I installed the same passing lamp/turn signal bracket on my '04 EG and can't add anything to the wiring question. But the passing lamps are attached to the bracket with a threaded hollow bolt that the passing lamp's positive wire passes through (the lamp is grounded to the housing)and is threaded through the bracket. That bolt (attached to the chrome lamp housing) is secured to the bracket with a nut. You will need a slotted socket or offset box end wrench with a slot(I will check but I believethe socket/wrench is7/16") in order to tighten the nut, otherwise the wire will be between your socket/wrench and the nut--not good.

A friend simply used his grinder to create the slot ina sparesocket for me. Rather than ratcheting away, turn the nut about 1/2 turn then reset the socket on the nut and repeat the process until it is tight. If you just ratchet away the thin wire will wrap itself around the socket and the wire will tear in two.

I'll check and post later on the socket/wrench size.

Ithought to get the passing lamps that don't have the cross bar you have to get the signal kit also.

Yes or no,

If you have an FLHX you already have the turn signals that are req'd for the Passing Lamp kit. If ya don't have an FLHX/CVO bullit turn signals you'll need them if you buy the Passing Lamp kit.

And the install is easy too.

I thought the install was pretty easy. My big hands had a little trouble getting the two bolts out on the bottom of the bat wing but other than that its a plug and play installation. I still need to fix them to work on high beam also. They help with low beam but I think with the headlight on high beam they would really rock. Just my .02 cents

Yes, just remove the two screws at the bottom sides of the insert and carefully bend it back where needed. At that point the only thing holding the insert is the ignition lock. You can then see what's going on and access the switch housing with a 1/4 in. ratchet and a long extension. I've installed two switches in the panel this way.
