When I bought my bike the V&H were on there, the rattled a little so I pulled the baffles all the way out and found the packing messed up in one, not sure how old they are, I ordered new baffle packing and did both of them, I lubed the rubber mounts and tightened everything up. I have since replaced the mufflers so they now are sitting in my garage. If you want it louder replace the baffles, the packing gives it a deeper tone.

I had the same problem. Mine came loose and rattled on the left side and for the life of me I could not get it to slip on all the way. So i pulled it off and discovered there were burrs in the slip on part. I took my dremel tool and smoothed it out and it went on another half inch, and was finally tight with no rattle. Then I took the packing out and it got a little louder and I like the sound better.

I took the muffler packing off my monster round mufflers, sounds better with a naked baffle in there.
