THE ULTIMATE TALL RIDER THREAD! (6'4 and above)
#111
Holy crap, I am only 6 foot and 200 pounds but have a 36.5 inseam, the hips cramp quickly.
My previous 07 SG was modified with accutronix forward controls + 9 inches and was perfect, the price was not ..$800.00. This wont work again! I also added the Lepera Bare bones seat, not for everybody.
This time I my return to the Bare Bones or the Lepera Montery (solo) for more leg room, wife does not ride.
I am hoping some design engineer would fabricate a set of forward controls in a respectable price range.

6'2" 185# 36" inseam, 36" sleeves
Currently riding a Street Glide seat, have ordered a Rallyrunner, looking forward to the "memory" foam. I tried the Tallboy and the Hammock. Tallboy set me up too high, Hammock left me bouncing around, and I felt really disconnected from the bike.
Standard Harley highway peg brackets, turned in about 30 degrees to match my feet so a don't turn my ankles out.
Bars on the '14 are the Heritage style, so I've just rolled them away from me.
Like all the information on results of the board relocators, extended brake pedal and rear shifter. Those will be my next, along with the outlet for charging.
And yeah, way smaller than most of you, but damn legs are always in the way.
Ill post my "lap dance table" look in a few!

Since this is revived.... 6'4" 320 32" inseam.... I put on 16 in apes and standard highway pegs. The bars were by far the best thing I could have done. Hoping to extend the boards, shifter and brake but will first likely look at making the seat more comfortable (currently running stock seat)

Update on the Tall Boys lowering kit. The other day I bottomed out for the 1st time turning left. It was on a bumpy street so my guess is when the suspension compressed in the turn, I scraped. When I was working on the bike the other day I saw where I touched down. It's a very square part of the mount and I reasoned that if cut at an angle, there would be more clearance and still be strong. So I broke out the band saw and went to work. Here's the results.
the offending chunk of metal -
The modified part -
I also added some CycleSmiths Banana Boards to give me more options. They mount a bit lower as well.
You can also see the Softbrake 2 inch extended shift lever. Works and looks great.

I'm 6' 4", 225, long arms and 34" inseam. I ride a 2013 FLHX and had been reading this thread and others prior to a round trip from North Florida to Conifer, Colorado to get info on tall rider comfort with handlebars. Long story short, I discussed it with my local HD shop and I decided to go with the HD mini apes. It seemed like a good idea at the time. Made the swap a week prior to the trip and thought things would be good. Man was I wrong! The problem for me was the angle of the hand position. On the mini apes they are not bent back toward the rider at all and by the time I got to Colorado, 1876 miles, my wrists were killing me. My shoulders were good however. I had Rocky Mountain HD swap them out for the Touring Pull-Back Handlebar which I had on my 2007 FLHX. It made the riding in Colorado, including a ride to the top of Mt. Evans at 14,130' elevation, so much more enjoyable. The bottom line is that the rider position is such a personal thing, your just need to try the setup rather than read about it. Unless you have access to many bike setups on your model bike, you just need to try it. I would recommend more time with a change prior to a long trip however.
Top of Mt. Evans, Colorado...14,130 ft elevation.
