Default XM Radio add on

I have a Sony Radio in my Electra Glide, and it has Sirius XM capability. Is there a special XM unit I need for a motorcycle or will any regular add on unit work? I know the radio is marine grade, but does XM have a marine add on unit?

Thanks for the help.

The Sirius or XM unit that matches your Sony radio will be mounted inside your fairing.
No need for it to be water resistant too.

I have the HK XM module for the stock radio. It was installed by the dealer and they put my antenna just on top of the radio. It is completely hidden behind the fairing this way. The reception is good in the open, but will cut out pretty quickly going under bridges and such. Don't know if I would say it is the best way to do it, but I you want it hidden, it does work.

I just put the seriusxm box(in faring) on my sony radio.I called them up a week before and asked the seriusxm people the cost of the box and transfer, shipping ect, they waved that so charged me 69 plus tax only, not bad.I already had an external unit on the handle barrs. The internal is great. Can scroll thru the chanels easier with bike controls, drawback is i cant glance at the ext box to see whats playing while radio is on different source,no biggy. Also its powered off the sat ready radio, less wireing things to go wrong. Ive had issues with the antena under the faring,my cure was im usuing the old antena which is a little bigger if that matters and i velcrow/zip-tied it dead center pointed strait up ie. the best spot under faring and now it even works under bridges and the garage.

Mounting the antenna in the fairing is lousy. Works fine on an open stretch of highway but cuts out pretty easily when traveling under tree covered roads and bridges. I mounted the antenna on my Street Glide in between my 3 pouch windshield bags. Works much beter.

I mounted the little antenna on the small shelf above the right speaker.
