Default 2012 Ultra Limited Pipes

I'm going to do stage 1 on my 2012 flhtk this winter. Originally I planned to install some se slip ons. After reading an article about the se slip ons rusting out I am looking at V&H now. I also noticed rust on my cross over pipe and mounts, so I would like to install the true duals with chrome all the way under. Anyone have any experience or suggestions? I believe this would mean removing the cat as well. Any warranty issues I might run into?

Cheers

shouldn't really have any rust down there- maybe it means your bike doesn;t leak enough oil...

you can get rust in the pipes if you get in the habit of starting up a cold bike through the winter and not letting it warm fully ( to boil any moisture off)...and when shut down a hot exhaust system is going to form condensate ( water) internally.

but you shouldn't have any rust problems at all- esp. in AB where they don't salt the roads

I don't think the brand of pipe would matter.

2.) a true dual will not have any pipe running under the bike

I have SE Street Performance slip-ons on my '11, and no rust issues. Actually I never heard or read what you shared about a rust issue, and I researched the heck out of pipes before I bought mine (drove my wife nuts ).

Look at Rush Racing. Great ceramic coating inside and out with less heat, and the 3.5 exhaust give a great sound, but not obnoxious at idle.

Incorrect. True duals run exactly where the stock pipes do, and on a 2012 limited that's under the bike.

They won't have a pipe connecting the two headers.

Finding and selecting pipes (and mufflers) can be a very serious purchase.

I've got Samson's on my '98 Heritage Springer, V&H on the 2003 RK, and V&H on my wife's '08 Heritage and we're happy with all of 'em.

For my '13 CVO S/E Ultra I went with the Rinehart XT True Duals (and yes the left pipe crosses under the frame) and the sound OK but I think I may order a pair of the "performance" baffles....just a bit louder.
