Aside from aesthetics, it sure appears to me that some structural integrity of the bracket has been sacrificed by your mod. Sure hope those uprights don't crack from the additional lateral forces they're going to be subjected to now without the cross support that the plate mount provided.

The 2009-2013 tour pack rack are in the first two pics.If that thing can handle the job, my 2014 mod rack by looks only, should never fail.IMAO
