Default 2013 Road King Looking for a So. Cal Sound?

Greetings,

I have a 2013 Road King and switched out the mufflers for straight 33in Fish Tail slip on's. Call me nuts but I am trying for the So. Cal look for my King. When I picked it up the bike at the dealer, I had them install the Harley Beach Bar. Not happy with them, I am getting ready to switch them out for the Wild One's Chubby #508. The Harley Beach Bar does not sweep back like I want. Going back to the sound issue. The non baffled Fish Tails sound great. What I am missing is the distinctive deceleration sound I hear some of these bikes make. Almost like a fart sound? Ha! when in deceleration mode. Really, I guess when I see these Cholo/So Cal bikes, when they decelerate and make that sound, I like it.

So, I believe in searching posts and lurking around the site it appears I will have to do a complete exhaust change out? Do you agree? Is it, maybe going to a 36in plus slip on? Is it an ECM change? When I switched out the mufflers I installed a Vance & Hines control module and had the V&H tech send me the recommended numbers for what I was running.

Anyone have insight? If I do a complete change out, do I go with Samson Header and pipes.

PS Please send or post any cool looking Cholo/So. Cal bikes for ideas.

Take Care Vince

You need to do the Samson head pipes with their open slip on's to get that sound right. You need the full system.

I myself am going for that look. I have the vance and hines big shots with the fishtail caps. Also high flow a/c and screaming eagle super tuner. No baffles makes for the loudest bike on the block. I have 16 inch burly apes and going to get some DNA spokes soon. As soon as I'm done with it I'll post some pics, go for the front and rear fender rails along with the nostalgia saddlebag guards. To me that's straight cholo and that's the look I'm sure we are both lookin for

Even though it would be considered biased coming from me but I agree with Hogpro.

Thank you,
Brian

You can't argue with the sound of a set of Samson true duals without baffles. Nothing compares.

I agree. I don't have samsoms but when I went TD I noticed deceleration sounds different than it did before. And I think its what your chasing after with your set up.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I am going to search around as far as eliminating the CATS and faking out the o2 sensors. I would think a full system is removing the CATS out entirely.
