Transmission Oil from Factory
What oil/fluid does HD install in new transmissions for break in? Reason I ask is my previous 2011 Road King never seemed to me to shift as smooth after I did the initial 1000 mi service on it. I went with Red Line HD Shockproof.
My current 2013 FLHTK is now coming up for it's first service, and like my previous FLHR, it is currently shifting very smooth with the factory trans oil that it came with at delivery. I think I would like to stick with it for the next 5k mi unless it is a special break-in with additive formula.

it comes with formula + in it. you had better check the level in the trans. i rode my new bike home 22 miles and check all the fluids and the trans didn't even touch the dipstick. this isn't the first new bike i seen like this. i called the dealer and told them about the low oil level and the service guy said oh, thats a bummer. i told them they a pre delivery check they should have done. anyway i run nothing but redline heavy shockproof in my bikes.

Make sure you don't overfill the primary, that'll cause rough shifting because the clutch will be dragging. I almost did the first time because just glancing at the service manual I almost started to refill with the "full amount" which is used only after complete disassembly. Then I saw the "refill" quantity for after draining which was less.
