Lowers vent door removal

Hey men, thinking of taking my lowers vent doors off for summer. Is there an easy way of taking them off or do the lowers have to be removed to do it? Thanks for the help

Lowers don't need to come off. No real easy way.

Take the doors out. Mine have been gone for years. You'll love it in the summer, and you won't regret it enough in the winter to put em back on...

first, remove the pivot hardware. then remove the top cap. once you do that, you can tilt the lower toward the rear of the bike a little. you'll see 3 torx screws that hold the glovebox unit on. remove those three screws, and you'll see where there is a slot in the vent and a small tit on the lower itself. then you can just remove it.

the only reason you have to tilt the lower some is because the crashbar covers up 1 or 2 of the torx screws, so you have to pivot it some so that you can get your tool in there.

it isn't hard, and it makes a big difference in the summer heat. remove it, and you get the airflow management of the lowers, but you still get some wind pushing the engine heat away. its a must here in the louisiana summer, imo.

Thanks Skratch, that's what I was looking for.

It's not hard at all. I have my doors off right now.

Just open the vent doors...duh

Wait, the vent doors open? I have the doors removed, a lot bigger opening for air flow. I'll see if I can get a little more air to the rear cylinder. Thanks dudes
