Default Want to de-chrome windshield trim...paint or powdercoat?

I bought that chrome trim that goes between the windshield and outer fairing to replace that cheap piece of rubber that keeps falling off. I want tosandblast the windshield trim and turn it into a nice vivid black piece to match my fairing. Which is the better way to go between painting and powder coating?

Defacing chrome is blasphemous.

Sandblast and have it painted to match!!

That would look sharp.

Paint is nice, but powder coat is more durable, especially on the front end.

i have the chrome trim also and dont like it i am going to paint it gloss black. i dont know what it is made out of but i am not going to powder coat mine due to the high heat involved and i dont know if the trim can take the heat.

Have friend who powder coated the trim, it held up fine to the heat and matches vivid black nicely.

It's not that hot, maybe 400 degrees. You can do it in a household oven, DO NOT TRY IT IN YOUR KITCHEN OVEN. The smell that it will leave will stay in that oven, trust me

Ok I'm bringing this thread back from the forum abyss because I'm going to take the powdercoating route. One question for anybody who's done this. There's a bunch of adhesive spots on all pieces called "3M Dual Lock". Does this need to be removed or will it stand the temperatures required for powder coating? I know it's more a question for the PC pros but they're closed right now.

They will blast it off when they blast the chrome off and then the whole piece, front and back, will be coated. They won't coat over the tape
