Default Heated Gear Using Battery Tender

Hi,

I am preparing to hook up our heated gear and have a question about the factory installed battery tender on 14 TG. If I remember correctly the battery tender lead is on the same fuse as the p&a fuse.

My question is would you feel comfortable using this fuse with your heated gear or should I run another pig tail with an inline fuse for this purpose. I am already going to attach another pig tail for my wifes gear. Thank for the help!

Rocky

I use the battery tender pigtail for my heated gear; I have never had an issue. I have the HD vest and gloves. You do have to buy the adapter to make the battery tender lead compatible with the heated gear leads

Great idea. Do you have the part number for the adapter. Assuming it's an HD part, but whatever works.

And if you are using Gerbing items, it is important to use the correct amp fuse for the # of items you are using..

I don't have the part number, but my dealer stocks them with the heated gear. You can also order them directly from heated gear manufacturers

I have heated gloves an a jacket liner.
I mounted a "power jack" on the upper side of my LH side cover.
It has a rubber plug to protect the plug from water when not in use.

I got all of my heated equipment from Revzilla.

I have First Gear heated jacket liner, gloves, and dual controller.

The instructions with my heated gear said DO NOT use the plug for the battery tender connection for heated gear, as it is not designed to handle the current draw that heated gear can pull.

Just sharing. As always, ymmv.

I use the battery tender connection. Just had to upgrade the fuse to the one that came with the gear.

I used the BT plug for about 10 years = no problems. Now I have the gloves/jacket liner/pant liner so I decided to use the Gerbing plug since I already have it might as well use it. It's tied to the BT plug and comes out from under the seat on the left side. I have the dual remote controller and put it in the windshield pouch for ease of adjusting if needed - usually none needed.

+1 on that recommendation from First Gear. I talked directly to the owner/manufacturer and he said the same thing. He supplied me with a separate fused heavier gauge wire that is separate from the Battery Tender wire and are compatible with my Harley Tri Glide and other wiring.
