Default Anyone use just the microphone of your headset

Just got my 2017 Tri-Glide. A 77147-98A Premium Stereo Helmet Headset came with the Trike. I'm not a helmet wearer. Has anyone tried desoldering the speakers on the headset and installing just the microphone on the bike to be used with the phone?

Even if it could be done with the speakers, I don't think the mic will be useful if it's not close to your mouth anyway. Where were you planning to set the mic?

When I had my '12 TriGlide I removed the speakers pods when using my 1/2 helmet. They bothered my ears after about 2 hours of use.

The mic alone worked well and used the bike speakers. You just have to turn the comm's volume up higher. The speakers should just unplug from the mic wiring harness.

I have tried several options, 1st I used a hand held Mic, worked OK but risky, 2nd I cut the speakers off the Included head set that came with the bike, that worked great as I clipped the mic to my shirt or jacket.

3rd and final what works best for me, I bought an over the ear head set from HD, I place that around the back of my head with the mic to my mouth, It's perfect, Voice command, CB, Nav, all responds well, feed back from the system comes through the bikes speakers.

I wear a half helmet and don't have my ears covered so I cut the speakers off and just installed the mic. The setup works great as the sound comes through the fairing speakers and the mic works great but must be close to your mouth as others have stated.

Sorry, I forgot to mention that there were the J&M headsets (the speakers have a plug in the wiring).
