Well today I got a little seat time on the trike, Had it out twice since purchased. My wife's 2012 tri when it was stalled in gear, just pulling in clutch it would start right up, today I felt like a new rider and stalled it a total 4 times, quite embarrassing really. Tried unsuccessfully starting with just drifting forward. 1 of the 3 times I found neutral , the other 3 I had to stop completely, even pushing down on the footbrake and depressing the front brake then it started, so my question is there an adjustment I can make by simply lighting up the brake lights and keep moving fwd. and restarting? or can this switch be removed. I find it quite dangerous with traffic in an intersection coming to a stop just to
re start. Been riding myself for about 30 years and been around bikes most of my life, so This is all new to me this trike thing ,in question is a 2017 M8 tri. Plans are, weather permitting to get more seat time the next few days, but this has really got me bugged. Guess newbees Have to have this to prevent stating in gear without the clutch
depressed, Thanks!!

If think you are saying that it won’t start in Gear with the clutch pulled in??

If that’s the case, then the clutch switch is probably sticking, which is a known issue. Take it to the dealer.

My ‘12 TriGlide is a PITA to get into neutral. But, my ‘17 RoadKing goes in easily.

Edit: my ‘17 RoadKing had the clutch switch issue. I fixed it myself by spraying dry silicone garage door lube into the area, and actuating the clutch lever a bunch of times. It’s now been fine for 100s of starts.

Correct, when starting out in in gear it will not activate the starter, unless in neutral or completely stopped while in gear. I find this extremely a dangerous situation in traffic on at an intersection.

The 12 had a clutch cable and since these newer ones are all hydraulic I figure there maybe more safety issues installed. I know the friction zone one can't feel like a cable type.

Guess to I have increased the weight to, and that makes a difference. I went from a RG to a dyna and then to this trike, do to a possible health reason to keep riding,

clutch engaged and brakes applied before it will start in gear
no adjustment available to change that
you can play with the rear brake, pressure applied, to find the sweet spot that lets it start in gear. same with the front brake. brakes don't need to be applied hard, just enough to start it in gear

No adjustments available, but I’ve practiced rolling the TG and applying the front brake lightly and have been able to start it while it’s rolling with slight pressure on brake.

Will try as you and others have stated. Tried yesterday in the garage, clutch in and out and in gear and out all the same, looked in the owners manual as others have said, all correct. Guess I just need to apply the front or rear brake lightly ,to restart if stalled.
