The dang trunk door latch.

...I do what has already been mentioned. I gently push in on the door until I hear that definite "click". I think what maybe happening is that if you don't get the door latched, and maybe trying to close it too fast, with the weatherstrip kind of acting like a spring, it pushes the door away not letting it latch all the way. If you press the door in slowly until you hear the click, you shouldn't have a problem. I also ride with mine locked. I test rode a '17 TriGlide on a demo day last year and I had to pull over & stop three times due to the trunk door popping open.

Do you have the trunk lid organizer? If so check and make sure that it’s not binding or pushing on anything inside the trunk. Also put some wd-40 ont the button mechanism so that it goes in and out smoothly. I had the organizer and it was useless, so off it came, problem solved......good luck.....(

I was barrelling up I-81 in VA and people started blaring their horns at me. It was on my TG break-in trip. I immediately pulled over and got off the Trike and the trunk was wide open. Scared the ever-lovin crap out of me because I had my client's laptop in there and if lost, I would be unemployed. I re-closed the door and locked it. I check it doubly close now and always lock it. Has never happened again.

One thing we did was install the Retractable Trunk Door Tether. There is enough tension to keep the door closed if it happens to unlock.

Have a '12 TG and I just slam it shut or sometimes push till I hear a click and no issues. Y'all know that WD40 is not a lube? WD stands for water displacement. I have also heard if used as lube it can get sticky with the residue. Just my 2 cents.
Its funny but could lube exacerbate the opening?
