Unhappy Floorboard bolts on a Tri Glide Ultra

I haven't been able to find a discussion on this type of issue. I am trying to loosen the top bolt on the passenger floorboards so I can add flag mounts. The bolt seems like it was welded on. Before I end up shearing the bolt head off, I am wondering if anyone knows if HD uses loctite on these things. Anyone else experience this? I am prepared to go at it with a breaker bar but I want to check knowledge base beforehand. Thanks in advance.

Not sure about the passenger boards, but I put a set of DK floorboard extensions on mine and ran into some grayish colored stuff on the main bolt on the driver left side. Had to use a breaker bar on that one and it was a struggle. Not sure what that stuff was. No big deal on the rest of the bolts on that install. Good luck.

OK, sounds like I just need to use some elbow grease. Thanks for that.

Don't use a breaker bar, that is factory thread locker. use a hair dryer or heat gun(or whatever you can get heat to it) get it warmed up and they will come out without taking the chance of breaking the bolt.

Very good advise! Snap a bolt, even on non engine part and you're in for a long day.

I hear ya, guys. Better safe than drilling out a busted bolt. I'll take your advice. Thanks.

Yep, 4 or 5 years ago I broke a bolt while attempting to remove it. Sometimes HD uses too much threadlocker, and combined with their questionable quality of fasteners, it can make a short job much longer.

Don't you just hate guys like this. They come bawling for help when they're in trouble, expect guys to waste their time answering them and then don't have the courtesy to post their outcome. Boo to them.
