I'm thinking of getting Cams for my '12 TG. I wanted more low end and high end torque. Mr. Wizard busted my bubble but did it very nicely! Guess you can do low/mid range of mid/high range. Was wondering which range you went with and why to help with my decision process or to just let it be?? Thank you for all responses. Also I'm not mechanically inclined!

 

I have the cams that Harley Davidson put in my engine. I figure they pay a staff if Engineers to figure out what is best. Far from me to try and outguess them. Wife and I are very happy with the HP and Torque of our virtually unmodified scoots.

2010,HD 255 cams, true duals , ac, new map dyno, 89hp, 108 tq, happy with the response, even pulling a trailer seems okey for a trike.

 

I base cam selection on how I ride. When I had my 2010 Triglide I tried 2 different cams. The 1st cam I tried was the SE255, they pulled pretty good on the bottom end, but signed off shortly after 4,000 rpm. I didn't like the early sign off, especially when passing an 18 wheeler or couple cars. I found them finicky about fuel quality, get a tank of some bad fuel or lower than 91 octane and the reward was ping city. I then installed a set of Wood TW555 cams, they pulled just as well on the bottom as the SE255 but didn't quit pulling at 4,000 rpm like the SE255. The TW555's pulled right up to red line of 6,000 rpm, the biggest plus was my Trike wasn't as particular about fuel quality as it was with the SE255 cams.

There are a lot of good cams to choose from, a person just has to figure out what they expect from their engine.

 

SE 254E cams here. Bottom end starts at 1800 for me and I can't feel drop off shifting up to 5000.

The 255's weren't for me. The TQ dip between 2300 and 2800 wasn't something I wanted to tune around.

Factory cams are smog cams which produce stock pull up to 3800 then drop off. The bottom end is just OK.

The 555 cams are a good cam for a trike. A Moderator has a set on his garage shelf if anyone is looking. He went with 57H cams after doing more modifications to his bike.

 

Im using Woods TW555 cams in wifes trike. I had these in when it was 103" and they worked all around very well along with new AC , Mufflers, TMax tuner and Fuelmoto headpipe. Her motor is now 107" and the 555s are working just as well if not better in that build.
I also have Woods TW6-6 and Andrews cams (21H,26H and 54H) in other bikes. All make a good improvement over stock cams.
