Glad you found us. I spent January on your island at Kaneohe Bay. I'll be back for a few days at the end of the month. Great state, beauttiful island...

Hello and welcome. I was always wondering the effects of the salt air on HDs in Hawaii. Is there something you can do to stop rust or things from getting salt damage? I remember 1985 my cousin had a nice fixed up car. I returned five years later and was so shocked to see that the finish was so messed up. The chrome bumpers were very pitted with rust as were the rims. You see the same type of thing happen here on the west coast to people who live near the coast. Although not to that degree I guess. Plus people who live on an island cant get away from it. All that rain and salt air so so hard on metal.

The air oxidizes stuff pretty fast out here. You just have to make a regiment for taking care of your bike/car etc. Like after the bike cools down after a ride, I go over it with a microfiber cloth and detail spray. Same with my Corvette. Its always covered when I'm not riding it. Basically if you clean your car/bike/whatever at least once a week, the air doesn't have time to penetrate anything. Its only when you let stuff sit up when you get problems here.
