Rear tyre is rubbing my turn signal wire ?
 

HAS ANYONE HAD THIS ISSUE
i have a 09 street bob with H.D 180/60/17 rear tyre, BUT its rubbing against my turn signal wires and the keep shorting out

Very simple old chap - you have to change something to stop that happening! The factory didn't make your bike to do that, so what has been changed since it left the showroom floor?

I had one eaten through by the tire, spliced it and since there was too much stretch between hold points, tire could still reach it, I just cleaned off the fender real good there and secured the wire to it with red RTV sealant - that stuff is really durable. If there isn't enough slack in the wire to reach the fender, splice in another inch or two. Should have a little metal tube welded to the fender for the wire to run through, that's really vulnerable just hanging in there. I've heard of several Harleys eating turn signal wires.

You have to make sure the wire is routed the way it came from the factory. There are brackets on the inside of the fender that wires must run through. If you feel around in there you'll notice the brackets have little extensions on them to guide those wires.

What changed is that he put a 180 on a bike that originally came with a 160.

Harley made a "180 MM WIDE TIRE KIT" (including a Tire) which included some hardware and instructions to address clearance issues.

I think you can still get those brackets separately. Although you may be able solve this with what you have, you'll have work on that

hi chaps it appears after homework the previous owner has put Typhoon wheels on and added a 180 tyre so i have been advised to use a 170 tyre
