RE: 130/90-16 to 140/90-16 REAR
You are going WIDER and TALLER...... That is a No-No.......
If you are wanting to just go wider, you must do what is called a "Zero Fitment"... EG.... 130/90-16 = 140/85-16 MT90HB-16 = MU85-16 Get it?????? FWIW, the MU is actually about 144, and is a real good fit for the touring bikes....... As you are running a Softail, you MIGHT be able to stuff a 150 in there, but don't hold your breath..... Sometimes the belt plays too tight to the tire...... Better off with an MU85..... |

I do "get it" and will be going that route...Again thanks........... |
RE: 130/90-16 to 140/90-16 REAR
the 140 is about 1/2 inch wider than the 130. with a 130 in place on the bike you need to add 1/4 inch to each side of the tire to check clearences. This means belts. belt guards and splash guards. since each tire manufature differs in sidewall design where the tread surface mates to the sidewall. You will need that manufacture tire on your bike to check for the next size up. Some models the 140 fits where a 130 was originally. Other models, there are clearence issues. Hate to see you spend money for a 140 if it doesn't fit. Research it first and have all your measurements in hand.

RE: 130/90-16 to 140/90-16 REAR
Nice tires!! Rode 'em enough to get the soap off and scrub them in a bit. Low speed handling is excellent; high speed (75-85mph) is very smooth and stable. Twisties are gonna be fun but did not do too much today as new tires and rain do not mix well.
Now the bad: They do not handle wet cattle grates made of old steel rails which are situated in the exit of a curve very well [:@], but they recover nicely on wet pavement. Whew, glad I wasn't going faster. |

RE: 130/90-16 to 140/90-16 REAR
I replaced the stock Dunlop on my RK in April, installed the 140/90. Yesterday, 10K miles later, I needed another new tire. Now the Metzler web site shows a 150/80 as the OEM replacement size for the rear of a Road King. Put it on last night, lots of clearance. When I get home today I'll scrub the blue off the whitewalls and take 'em for a ride.
