vidal junction sept 8 2012 during my first 1k/24 here's the only pic i took that wasn't a time stamped shot of the odometer. it was a quick shot with the iphone. vidal junction sits at the intersection of 95 and 62 near the middle of the desert between interstates 10 and 40. the station carries diesel and 87 octane. i stopped there after realizing the road king probably had a 5 gallon tank because i had less than a quarter tank left. needles is 50 miles away and i decided to go for it. the fuel light came on with 20 miles to go. luckily the last 20 miles were mostly down hill. i kept the speed at 60 mph, talked to the bike (a lot) and pulled into the shell station in needles with .13 gallons left.
