1. The Black Rider (1954)

This first feature is not a horror movie, but it does have certain elements of the genre, like a creepy haunted house and the ghost monk who haunts it. The action revolves around a mysterious motorcycle rider dressed all in black and wearing an executioner's hood seen riding through the moors and all over the country side. There may also be a subplot about the Russians, spies and atomic secrets. What you do get is a young man and his friends riding their British bikes around as they try to get to the bottom of things. You can watch the opening 6 minutes here.

2. These are the Damned (1963)

These are the Damned (1963), sometimes called simply The Damned, is a mash up of a biker movie, a Hammer horror film, and a cold war atomic sci-fi feature. It revolves around a house on a cliff in a seaside town, and the creepy children who live there, but also involves the antics of a sadistic biker gang who rule the streets in the little village. This movie has plenty of plot twists and turns, and in the end the bikers are recruited to fight against the real evil and injustice going on all around. This relic of the cold war is one of the few Hammer films that aren't just a retread of the familiar Dracula or Frankenstein stories. You can watch the trailer here, or this whole movie on YouTube here.

3. Psychomania (1971)

Still another British biker/horror movie, Psychomania (sometime known as The Death Wheelers in the US) deals with a gang of bikers (The Living Dead) who rape and pillage, and somehow discover the secret to dying and coming back as the undead. It really is not well explained, but it has something to do with being super badass, and killing yourself dramatically while not caring if you live or die. Once they are the undead, they pretty much just keep doing what they had been doing, terrorize the town folk, riding their bikes, raping, murdering and stealing, but with no fear of death. You can watch the trailer here, or this entire film on YouTube here.

4. Werewolves on Wheels (1971)

Werewolves on Wheels involves a gang of bikers (the Devil's Advocates) who get cursed by a group of satanists, just because they won't let them sacrifice one of their girlfriends to Satan. The bikers bust up the satanic temple and ride off into the night, only to discover the next night that there is now evil in their midst. Members of their gang keep getting mauled and killed in the night by some sort of wild animal! Is this gang tough enough to defeat the supernatural, or will they give in and join the dark forces of Satan himself? You can see the trailer here, or watch the whole movie on YouTube here.

5. Blood Freak (1972)

If you thought those other movies were strange, you ain't seen nothing yet! Blood Freak tells the story of a Vietnam vet who is riding his chopper along, minding his own business, when he falls in with a group of dope smoking hippies, who get him hooked. This leads to a job working at a turkey farm where he consumes some meat from experimental birds, dies and is reborn as a turkey vampire who craves the blood of marijuana smokers! As bad as that sounds, the writing, acting, and special effects make it even worse, and after he becomes a turkey, he stops riding! You can watch the trailer for this masterpiece here, or click along and watch the whole movie on YouTube.

6. Hex (1973)

This is a more traditional biker movie, except it takes place in the old west and they are all WWI veterans. Hex, also sometimes called The Shrieking, Charms, or Grass Land, follows the gangs exploits as they run afoul of some town folks, hide out at a farm with some native American girls, and then get cursed when one of them gets fresh with the ladies. From that point on they all end up dying in strange and horrible ways, while trying to outrun the hex. The trailer is not online, but the whole movie is, here.

7. Race with the Devil (1976)

Pretty much all of the motorcycle riding takes place at the beginning of this movie, but when it is Peter Fonda doing it, and on a flat track, it really counts for something. Fonda, Warren Oates, and their wives are on a RV trip across the country when they witness a strange ritual. Form that point on they are tormented and hunted by a group of devil worshipers intent on killing the witnesses, and sacrificing them to Satan. Yeah, this is a low budget film, but the performances of these great actors make up for the poor writing. The trailer is here, and the whole film is on YouTube here for $2.99 rental.

8. Majorettes (1987)

Majorettes (also called One by One) is your basic slasher film about a psycho killer working his way through the college majorette squad. However, the local authorities suspect the killings may be the work of a known biker gang that is suspected of being into satanic stuff. Who cares, right? Majorettes are cheerleaders without the skirts. Turn the lights down and try not to be scared when the killer jumps out and kills another unsuspecting college girl in her unitard. The trailer is here, or watch the whole film on YouTube here.

9. Nightmare Beach (1989)

This 1980's slasher film, produced by an Italian company for as little as possible, was shot on location on spring break, and features a crazed killer in full gear and riding a Gold Wing. Sometimes known as Welcome to Spring Break, Nightmare Beach combines plenty of killing, oiled up bikini babes, and one biker who may actually have risen from the dead after being executed. As far as these types of movies goes, this one has everything you expect. Why watch Nightmare on Elm Street again when you can watch a nightmare on spring break instead? The opening is here, but you are going to have to seek it out on Amazon if you want to watch the whole movie.

10. Chopper Chicks in Zombietown (1991)

This movie is exactly what the title says. An all female biker gang, called the Cycle Sluts, end up in a little town where a mad scientist has been creating zombies, in order to use in a mine to radioactive for humans. It is a horror comedy, so it knows how ridiculous that premise is. Billy Bob Thornton is in this in one of his first paid acting jobs. You can see the trailer here, or watch the whole movie on YouTube here

11. I Bought a Vampire Motorcycle (1990)

Another movie that delivers exactly what the title promises, a Norton Commando with a taste for blood. I Bought a Vampire Motorcycle is like Christine, but instead of a Plymouth Fury it is a British bike. They know this is silly, and they have fun with it, so you should too. Unfortunately, all you can see easily is the trailer, which is right here, otherwise you need to buy the DVD.

12. Blood Ties (1991)

There have been quite a few movies with the titles Blood Ties over the years, but this one is the only one that dealt with a feud between a group of biker vampires and a family of cops who are vampire hunters. It is played straight, and it is an action, horror, biker film that isn't half bad. You can see the trailer here, or the whole thing on YouTube here.

13. The Violent Kind (2010)

There have been two recent biker/horror films, The Violent Kind, which I haven't seen, and Dear God No! which I have and I regretted, so here we are. This movie follows a gang of bikers to a cabin in the woods where they are ready to get wild and party, only to have one of their girls become possessed by something not of this earth. Then, to make matters worse, a group of rockabilly greasers show up, who may actually have time traveled from the past, in order to take the possessed girl with them to bring about the end of the world. As crazy as that sounds, the actual film is crazier. You can watch the trailer here and you can rent it on Amazon for just $3.99.
