Daily Slideshow: Harley-Davidson Delivers for Brazos de Dios Toy Run
For the community surrounding College Station, Texas, Santa did not come down the chimney this year. Instead, he showed up on two wheels and brought all his elves with him.
Here comes Santa Claus...
The Ranch Harley-Davidson and their local HOG chapter, The Brazos de Dios, have teamed up for the past 29 years to bring joy and cheer into their community. Throughout the year, the community and its many sponsors and volunteers, come together to make Christmas happen for families in need. The dealership reaches out to the Bryan-College Station elementary schools, local churches and other organizations that work closely with the community. After a vetting process, that includes phone interviews and home visits, 10-15 families with the most needs are picked. The group then takes their wish list and goes shopping! The Ranch and The Brazos de Dios group work closely with their sponsors to meet the needs of the families and then make the delivery happen. Santa and Mrs. Claus lead the ride on their motorcycles, along with close to 200 bikers, delivery trucks from local partners and a local police escort lighting the way. The time and resources for this event are 100% donated through the goodness in a community that just wants to do their part in making spirits bright.

Bringing toys for all the boys and girls...
As seen on the local news affiliate, KBXT-TV, News 3, the children embraced the bikers who brought along stuffed animals to hand out to the neighborhood while they were making deliveries. Smiles and hugs were happening all over the place! Even though there were specific families picked to benefit from this Toy Run, the benefit went well beyond the boundaries of those homes.
Although the annual Toy Run is a primary focus, The Ranch gives back to the community year round. They have participated in fundraisers from breast cancer to Hurricane Harvey relief. The HOG chapter and dealership work closely together to find the needs in their areas and focus on where they are able to make the biggest contribution. Besides time and resources, the people who are behind the scenes work diligently to stay on task and meet the goals of the dealership, the chapter, and the community.

And holiday cheer through all the town...
Harley-Davidson promotes freedom and self-expression. This is a company that takes ideals and transforms them into action. From the Motor Company to the local dealer, it is all about making a mark in your community through unity and growth. Ideals transcend the walls of the dealership and are brought to life by the people who seek the lifestyle. Preconceived notions should be dismissed and actions should be embraced. Riding a motorcycle is a personal choice. Giving back to the community is a personal choice. More times than not, these two expressions go hand in hand. The community of College Station, Texas is grateful for both.
