All Together Now

When you think of Harley-Davidson, several things immediately come to mind. Powerful, road presence, and image, to name a few. Or perhaps you think of the nearly unlimited custom options available for H-D bikes. Or maybe the manufacturer's storied racing history. Combine all of those things together and you've got this - the 2018 Battle of the Kings winning "Back to the Track" Sportster build.

Best of the Best

The incredible tribute to Harley's legendary VR1000 was built by the masterminds at Adelaide Harley-Davidson Bike Works in Melrose Park, Australia. It managed to best 17 other amazing builds from the New Zealand and Australia region, taking home the gold in Harley's annual custom motorcycle build-off competition.

Proper Homage

The crew started out with a stock Roadster and transformed it into something that pays proper homage to Harley's past. According to Adelaide, this bike is "a custom build that reflects the racing heritage of the VR1000 and restores the sound of the iconic Sportster model belting around Aussie race tracks."

Back to the Track

The team accomplished that goal by developing a totally custom fairing, rear seats, and clip-on bars. And it isn't just lip service, either. Adelaide hopes that the bike helps "revive the local racing scene and give our clients a reason to back to the track on a Sunday."

Catalog Build

In addition to the custom-made bits, there are quite a few Harley catalog items here that the average enthusiast can buy and use to replicate the build. They include a Cafe rear tail section, fully adjustable piggyback suspension, and a Roland Sands pulley cover.

Parts List

The rest of the parts list consists of a Daymaker headlight, flush mount fuel cap, air cleaner element, instrument cluster and speedo bracket, new mirrors, and a Roland Sands exhaust. The whole thing is set off with a custom paint job by ND Refinishers.

Global Dominance

Simple, but incredibly effective. And now, this crazy cool track bike build is headed to Harley's 2018 World Custom King contest featuring all the regional winners of Battle of the Kings. And judging by how well it turned out, we'd say it's got a fair shot at winning the global crown!
