Center Stage

It might be just packaging, but the new top-tier offerings from Harley-Davidson are sizzling hot. Flames and intricate paint schemes take center stage for the 2022 Custom Vehicle Operations lineup, but absent is the usual powerplant bump. The four super-premium models on offer include the CVO Street Glide, CVO Road Glide, CVO Road Glide Limited, and CVO Tri Glide.

Inspiring Limits

The appearance-focused rollout highlights Harley-Davidson's long-standing collaboration with Gunslinger Custom Paint. Vice President of Styling & Design, Brad Richards, elaborated in a recent media release. “Gunslinger [has] been adding incredible artisanal techniques to our CVO arsenal and family for a long time now, and they’re inspiring us to push the limits, so we try to do the same thing with them.”

High Flow

Same as the previous year, all the new CVOs are fitted with the Milwaukee-Eight 117. While still the largest production motor available, the CVOs now share the powerplant with the new Lowrider S and ST baggers. To get the most out of the big mill, they all come equipped with a Screamin' Eagle Heavy Breather intake and a high flow exhaust.

Rocking Options

As one of the two least expensive CVOs, the Street Glide rings in at $41,899. A Daymaker Adaptive LED headlamp and Fugitive wheels are standard, along with a rocking Rockford Fosgate audio system. A Boom! Box GTS Infotainment display and a Bluetooth headset make for hands-free connectivity. Envious Green Fade or Blue Steel paint are included, but the Hightail Yellow Pearl scheme adds $3,000 to the tab.

Juicy Format

The Road Glide shares the CVO entry-level price with the Street Glide. It gets the same lighting, audio, and electronics package as its iconic sibling. For 2022, the sharknose machine was fitted with an exclusive 21'' front wheel in a cast/laced format. Also available in Envious Green Fade or Blue Steel, the juicy Wicked Orange Pearl dumps another $3,000 on the bill.

Premium Selections

The CVO Road Glide Limited is the ultimate in two-wheel touring comfort. Fully loaded, the Limited includes color-matching lowers and a Tour-Pak, while rolling on Tomahawk cast wheels. Heated seats and grips, along with selections from the Kahuna Collection make for a premium touch. Issued in Dante's Fade Red, the luxury bagger comes in at $44,899, with Wicked Orange or Hightail Yellow Pearl raising the cost by $3000.

Ride Control

Only available in Dante's Fade Red, the CVO Tri Glide rings in at $49,999. As with all the CVO models, the Tri Glide is equipped with a full complement of RDRS Safety Enhancements. Optional on standard touring models, the bevy of technology includes cornering ABS, cornering traction control, cornering Drag-Torque Slip Control, Vehicle Hold Control, and more. It all adds up to a worry-free ride.

Transcend Expected

CVOs are not an economy ride, and Harley-Davidson is not modest about this either. They say, “CVO motorcycles represent the pinnacle of forward-looking style, design, and craftsmanship from...the world’s most-desirable motorcycle brand.” According to Brad Richards, it is all about Gunslinger's skill and artistry. He confidently states that the 2022 CVOs “really transcend the 'expected' by delivering a truly custom look.”
