Post-Apocalyptic Fat Bob to the Max
Bike's muscular styling tells a story of societal breakdown.
Inspired Touch
If going for a rip across the Wastelands or down Fury Road is on the agenda, then Fat Max is the ride of choice. Built for Harley-Davidson's 2018 Battle of the Kings, and inspired by the end-of-civilization Mad Max movie, Game Over Cycles took a stock Fat Bob and applied an apocalyptic-cruiser touch that is sure to rock any Thunderdome.
Familiar Awards
Game Over Cycles is the custom arm of Harley-Davidson Rzeszów, Poland—one of the largest Motor Company dealerships in Eastern Europe. If the name sounds familiar, it is because Game Over Cycles are responsible for creating the 'Recidivist.' Winning multiple awards, often for the most unusual bike, the Recidivist was a leather-clad Softail covered in actual tattoos—including the tires.

Functional Nature
More than just all over body-decorations, Fat Max is meant as a practical machine in a collapsed society. Game Over Cycles described their inspiration. “In Mad Max the vehicles were built from parts and scrap metal. Fat Max is the embodiment of dirt and chaos, modified to emphasize the aggressive nature of the vehicle and at the same time be fully functional.”

Individual Enthusiasts
Functionality is a core pillar of Harley-Davidson's Battle of the Kings competition. As a cool showcase for the custom talents of various dealerships, the rules stipulated that the frame and swingarm must remain stock. The company-sponsored event was meant to reflect how individual enthusiasts personalize their own rides, but it seems that Battle of the Kings has wrapped up as of 2020.

Breakdown Time
Chris Bienkiewicz, owner of Game Over Cycles, explained how Fat Max was christened. Although obvious, the title is “a combination of the base model name and the movie title.” Mad Max, the 1979 Australian dystopian action movie starring Mel Gibson, tells a story of societal breakdown following an oil crisis. It was the highest-grossing film of its time.

Spare Form
Mad Max has also earned a cult following and is credited for inspiring many a young rider. Modified vehicles and custom bikes are the central feature of the story line. Even more key is the desperate and often murderous hunt for gasoline. True to form, Game Over Cycles have included a spare five-gallon tank with their copper-covered, post-apocalyptic Fat Bob.

Muscular Zombie
Game Over Cycles made the right move in choosing the 2018 Fat Bob. It packed a punch with its 114 cubic-inch Twin Cam, still the largest standard motor in Harley-Davidson's arsenal. According to Cycle World the bike's radical and muscular styling “stretched the brand's DNA the most.” Harley-Davidson even used terms like 'zombie apocalypse' as a source of inspiration in its design.

Necessary Concern
Apart from the extra fuel, Game Over Cycles added a few other necessary items. Fat Max features a louvered skid plate, headlight and handguards, and a supposedly bulletproof windshield—adjustable to the rider's height. While the custom shop did not win at Battle of the Kings, Fat Max certainly is a winner if looking good is a concern in the end times.
