It’s always a hot and muggy one when it comes to Texas and the ROT rally. Engines roaring, steady idles of V-Twins rocking in their frames as they reflect vibrating mirages of burning sunlight dancing on chrome. Long, hot days of riding and revelry winding into sultry nights in the downtown streets. This Thursday, June 13, 2019, thousands of motorcycles will rumble through the Texas capitol onto whatever the nights may offer. Break out your leather vests and sunscreen because The Republic of Texas Biker Rally, also known as the R.O.T. Rally begins on Thursday and will run for four days, concluding on Sunday, June 16. The event is massive, bringing tens of thousands of bikers from across Texas and the Southwest to the city of Austin.
Bike Shows and More
The Republic of Texas (R.O.T.) Rally features a number of events including the ROT AMD Qualifier Custom Bike Show. Competitors can enter motorcycles built under four different categories; Free Style, Garage Builders Open Class, Custom Street – Division One and Custom Street – Division Two. The bike show will take place in the Russ Brown Builders’ Tent. If you’re not a professional builder but still proud of your iron horse, there’s the ROT Rally Ride-In Bike Show. The show will be held outside near the Russ Brown Builders’ Tent. Registration is open to the public and will be held at 9:00 am and close at 11:00 am. Awards will be given for the People’s Choice and Best of Show.

Parade on 6th Street
Supermoto and DRT Racing: From Thursday, June 13 through Saturday, June 15, The Travis County Expo Center will host the ROT AMA Races. The races are a combination of Supermoto and DRT Racing filled with high speeds and high jumps that will excite motorcycle enthusiasts both young and old. Fitz Army: Matt Buyten of Burleson, TX is set to stun crowds with high flying motorcycle thrills. Buyten is a seven-time X-Game medalist prepared to shock the crowd with a daredevil performance. There’s something for the thrill seekers in the crowd. If the Fitz Army wasn’t enough to satisfy your adrenaline rush, additional events include the Ball of Steel, the XDL Street Jam and Street Cowboys—an up-close show featuring freestyle stunt riders, and a motorcycle parade leading through the downtown Austin streets. Traditionally, 6thStreet in Austin is closed down to automobile traffic for at least one night of the event.

Rotten Tattoo Expo
Bikers and Tattoos go hand in hand by using their skin as a canvas to showcase everything they hold dear. Bikers have tattoos, and if you’ve got them you better show them off with the pride they deserve. The Rotten Tattoo Expo will feature daily tattoo contests, a tattoo art show, and the Miss ROT Model Search. If you’re itching for some new ink, there will be tattoo companies working the show to help you add to your personal canvas.

Ride in the Country
If the city gets too wild for your liking, there are miles and miles of beautiful backroads leading to the Texas Hill Country that will offer an escape for those looking for the serenity of the open road. Tickets for the 2019 Republic of Texas (R.O.T) Rally range between $30 to $69 for a one-day pass and $89 for a full event ticket.
