New and Different

The Harley-Davidson Sportster S is still a relatively new product, but as is always the case, it wasn't long before we started seeing modified examples of the revamped model. However, few of them are quite as unique as this latest build from the folks at Germany's Thunderbike, which it has nicknamed "SPS 4."

New Shoes

As it stands, the Sportster S is already a stylish machine with plenty of power from its new Revolution Max 1250 powerplant, but in this case, Thunderbike wanted to build upon that solid base by adding even more distinctive features. That process began with the installation of the company's GT wheels measuring 18 inches in the rear and 21 up front.

Dual Brake Setup

Thunderbike wanted to be able to incorporate dual brake discs and calipers up front as well, which required it to mill the brake caliper mounts and add an additional radial brake caliper from the folks at Brembo. Other than aiding in stopping power, this also gives the Sporster S a cool, muscular look.

Sporty Ride

According to Thunderbike, this upgrade - coupled with the skinner-than-stock front tire - aids performance in several ways, improving both handling and braking at the same time. To accommodate those improvements, a relocated footrest was installed, along with triple clamps and flat handlebar mounts that combine to help give the bike a sportier riding position.

Milled Parts

From there, Thunderbike went to town adding an array of milled parts from its own catalog, a list that includes an SPS series radiator cowling, engine cover, pulley cover, shock absorber cover, headlight cowling, grips, and indicators, to name just a few.

Finishing Touches

The finishing touches on this build include a custom seat from Spirit Leather, a Jekyll & Hyde slim exhaust system, and a custom paint job from Kruse Design that incorporates some bright green supercar-like elements with the typical blacked-out goodies on this particular bike.

Sportier Sportster

Ultimately, the goal here was to make the Sportster S live up to its name in more ways than simply being fast in a straight line. Rather, Thunderbike wanted to make the Sportster a bit more sporty, and they certainly accomplished that goal - both in terms of how it looks and how it performs.
