Big Reveal

It wasn't too terribly long ago that custom motorcycle builder and Roland Sands Design employee Aaron Boss revealed that he was working on a rather ambitious new project - a land speed racer based on the Harley-Davidson Road Glide ST. Now, that project is complete, and Boss revealed it in its entirety at the recent Born Free Show, too.

Big Power

Though it sports a Harley badge - as it should - this land speed racer largely relies on one big component from that Road Glide ST - its Milwaukee-Eight powerplant, which now churns out around 200 horsepower thanks to a supercharger and various other modifications.

Ambitious Goals

Coupled with little weight and aerodynamic bodywork, the H-D racer is aiming to break some records at the iconic Bonneville Salt Flats, as Boss believes he can hit a rather eye-opening 249 miles-per-hour there. In the meantime, it's worth taking a closer look at this amazing, ambitious project.

Trick Components

Underneath the sleek bodywork, this land speed racer features a totally custom chassis with a torsion bar rear end inspired by sprint cars, which also houses its H-D powerplant. However, that isn't the only part lifted from the Road Glide, as it also features that bike's instrumentation and hand controls inside the single-seat cabin.

Heading to the Salt

Now that his wild new project is finished, Boss plans to test it out at El Mirage before heading to the iconic Bonneville Salt Flats, where we imagine that his unique creation will perform quite well. However, as salt flat racers know, that depends on a lot of things other than what kind of vehicle you're piloting there - namely, weather conditions - so it'll be interesting to see what Boss can ultimately achieve.
