I'm running a kenwood 798 and I can't see it even on overcast days. My question is what are you running that you can read in daylight on a 13 and down Roadie?
I can't remember the exact number, but it was one of the oranges at the very end of the list. It also helped to swap the contrast around (positive/negative). It was far from perfect, but I could see it under most conditions.
This was brought up before and I don't remember the ultimate answer but I know me and a lot of the other guys are running the Sony MEXM70BT and love it for all of its features as well as visibility in the daylight. Others will chime in with way more knowledge than I have.

I have that Sony head unit and one of the reasons I wanted it was for visibility however the truth is I can rarely see the display in any daylight conditions. But it doesn't bother me as it's a good head unit otherwise and I simply run a usb thumb drive with lots of music on it played in shuffle. I don't really need the display as I don't need to see the track titles or search for tracks. And I get my time off the odometer display.
