Default Biketronics Installation 2017 Road Glide

Well, I'm at the beginning of this project. So far it's just disassembly and I haven't received my 15 and up package. (UPS is supposed to deliver it today). For you people like me, the not necessarily good at installation kind of people, so far so good. I watched youtube for disassembly, and everything went as I saw. Minimal tools were needed. Mainly a Torx 25, Torx 40, 3/16 allen , ratchet and extension, flashlight (my garage lighting sucks), side cutters for one tie wrap. I'll add to this as I install the Amp, LL, and speakers. I did purchase a set of Stingers to compare to Biketronics RCA cable. Should I plan on sealing the speakers with silicone caulk ???

Yes on sealing the speaker pods. Split the pod halves and run a nice bead in the groove and reinstall screws. Let silicone dry completely before installing speakers - I don't know why but iirc something to do with fumes possibly damaging speakers.

Yeah, take the pods out and apart. Run a bead of silicone to seal them up. You do this to stop the whistling noise as air is blown out and sucked into the pods with your new improved speakers.

Gents, On my RGS , no speaker pod removal is necessary. I've got the speakers out and have a ton of room. No sealant noted on Harley speaker removal.

What they are referring to is opening up the pods themselves and taking silicone to fill the gap and reinstall the outer pod. This will help/stop any air flow that is currently flowing through that cap. You will need to remove a few screws around the pod, insert the silicone and the put the outer pod piece back on.

Also, be prepared to take a dremel to some edges inside the pod in order to get proper fitment of the speakers. I had to do that as well when I put some Focal's upfront. The bigger magnet needed a bit more room.

I did have one little hiccup. In removing the speaker harness at the connection of the harness from the HU, (Molle ?) the little plastic retaining ring broke off on one side. I can insert the connection still but, there is no ring that clips on the little tab to keep it from separating...
