Default fork oil weight 2010 WG?

i am going to change out my fork oil on my 2010 WG. the BelRay Lubricant advisor says 20W. That seems a bit heavy. anyone use 20W on their WG?

I'm running 10wt BelRay in my '13 and it seems to be working fine.

Progressive recommended 15wt with a 150mm oil level when I installed their heavy springs in my '13 Wide Glide; I weigh 145 pounds and with the heavy springs and 15wt the ride is firm, perhaps too firm for some people but if you're running the stock springs you may benefit from a heavier oil to firm up the ride and keep front end dive to a minimum.

For my '13 the SM called for the oil level set to 95mm with the stock springs/spacers which is just over 29 ounces of fluid. I don't know if your '10 uses the same spec but be sure to pick up 2 quarts of fork oil, those 49mm fork tubes are thirsty

thanks for your responses. I think i will go with the 15w (stock springs), instead of the 20 weight the web site is recommending.

Im curious, why go with HD spring when you only weigh 145 lbs?

I opted for the heavy springs on this Wide Glide to see if I could enhance front end stability and braking dive control. I've used Progressive standards on several other HD and found the front felt nervous and I was making mid-corner corrections no matter how light I rode on the bars or how smoothly I rolled on the throttle; I practice threshold braking and still had pronounced front end dive so this time around I installed the HD springs.

The front feels much more planted and stable in corners now, during hard braking the dive is reduced but the trade off was a more harsh ride over consecutive bumps. This is still a work in progress, just interrupted by winter I may still have a bit too much compression damping but I'll continue to experiment with it before I move on to more expensive options

Get some miles on it before you do to much. I found mine softened up quite a bit after the first 500 or so miles.
I thought mine was initially a bit harsh with the same setup but now its perfect. But I'm also 250ish...

Did mine a couple weeks ago and used their 20wt oil as recommended. Haven't been out for a long ride but the bike seemed to ride much better. I had progressive springs but switched back to factory, progressive was way too stiff.

It took around 1K miles before the heavy springs settled in for me, must be my scrawny butt I may nip 1/8" off the spacers after a few rides this spring but the heavy springs on this Wide Glide were the way to go
