Default My FXR2 Build thread

I bought this bike a little over a year and a half ago and feel in love with it. I've built a few sporties but this was my first big twin bike.

This is pretty much how it's been since I bought it from a guy in Omaha.

Wide Glide conversion, Thunderheader, tall apes and turn signal delete.

The really big thing I disliked about the old 80 inch was a dog compared to the 1250's I've built in the past. So this winter I decided to change the bike completely. What started out as a "I need a little more power" has turned into a "Let's rebuild the whole damn bike!" project.

The short list of mods
*Ultima 120CI
*Barrnet Clutch
*Mikuni HRS 45
*Stock rear fender
*Narrow Glide Trees
*Racetech fork kit
*SM Pre-Loaders
*Glide Pro motor mounts
*CCE Swingarm bearings
*Adding Turn signals back on
*Ape delete for custom bars
*Powder Coating the frame

So far here are the progress pictures, now I'm in the putting back together stages.

Disassembly=
Last picture of it together with my old man's Dyna

Quick install of the new rear fender

Ripped the Primary apart

Old motor out!

Little 80 inch next to the new 120

Everything out besides wiring

Wiring gone

Ready for blasting and Powder

Frame back from coating

New narrow tree all polished up

Back Together Stages=

Swing arm/Trans back in

The 120 shoehorned into the frame

That's where I'm at right now, next I'll throw the primary on and still waiting on my bars and such to come in from Chrome.

Jesus you weren't kidding about rebuilding the entire thing. You leave no stone unturned but it looks like it's gonna be a hell of a build. I'm excited to see the end result. I think you should post some videos on here when it's complete.

Hmm...that Triple Tree looks pretty close to what I mentioned for you to get if you wanted a stock set when you were looking for answers in the thread link below. Since you never came back with any response, I guess now it must have worked out

FXR Aftermarket Triple Tree's
"My FXR2 has wide tree's on it, I wanna take it back to a Narrowglide. The FXR2 has the bottom mount headlight so an aftermarket tree set up is easier to find than stock trees for a bottom mount"

Thanks guys, aligning the motor is the next thing I'm gonna try to tackle after getting the primary together.
