Default Jack Dan's Derby Cover install...

Well, after searching I think I may have just confused myself a little more, I apologize if this has been posted before. It is my understanding the SB has an o-ring gasket instead of a typical gasket. Can I re-use the o-ring gasket with my JD cover or do I need a different one?

Thanks for the help!

I would say the non-o-ring gasket is the one.

Nope, you need the regular gasket from previous models. I wish I had written down the part number but your dealer should be able to pull it up.

Got it, thanks. I had gotten one for my "Old No. 7" cover but didn't keep the number for reference. I really like `em!

Weird....I just put my new derby cover on tonight. My local dealer (Elkridge MD) sold me the new cover with the gasket for the old cover. I should know better by now, not the first time they jacked something up. Of course, no one is open on a saturday night so...I had some high temp gasket material laying around and cut out a gasket for it. What is the rubber O-Ring Mcurry5 is refering to?? From the drawing in the instructions it looks like the flat gasket would be all I need, did I screw it up?? I'm riding in the Rolling Thunder ride tomorrow and would rather not have it blow out on me. Any info would be great

what he meant was its a flat gasket with a imposed orange ring (slightly raised)you put towards clutch side
what you did should work...
I go to the same dealer and its no suprise you got the wrong thing dont you know its your fault ? LOL thats what they told me anyway what I have learned is I need to be more knowledgble than the parts people which is a shame since there being paid to do the job[sm=rant.gif] anyway have safe ride tomorrow
