Default LoJack

Who has LoJack and what are the prices? Anyone with LoJack get their bike stolen and recovered? After it's stolen do you want it back or would you rather have the money to get another one? I had my car stolen and it's the worst feeling....I didn't really want it back because I didn't know what they did to it how they drove it, etc.....Any stories, advice will help...

My stealer tried to talk me into the LoJack, but I opted for the GAP insurance. Basically, if my bike gets stolen, 100% of the balance will be paid on it. GAP insurance costs less than $600 and the Lojack would have cost $1200. If my bike gets stolen, I don't want it back, I want a 'NEW' one.

I got the Lojack installed before picking it up, $795 installed. A friend of mine had his sSoft Tail stolen and paid a hefty price to get a new bike, insurance doesn't pay 100%.

Problem with LoJack is that it only works in very few large cities. If you live anywhere else, forget about it.

GAP insurance does, read up on it!

Basically it works like this...lets say your bike is stolen and not recovered or if it's in a wreck and totaled, as soon as you ride off the dealer lot on it, it's value drops somewhere between 20 - 30%. So if you owe $19,000 on your loan, market value is about $15,200. After a normal insurance claim is filed, you are still responible for $3800. If you bought GAP insurance, it covers this amount. The 'GAP' between market value and what is owed.

Again, if my bike gets stolen I don't want it back. You never know what the moron who stole it did to it. I would rather have it paid for and get a new one.

Obviously, your friend didn't have GAP insurance.

I work for an auto dealership and the truth is that gap only cost $299 and there are all different sources you can purchase this from online if you so desire. Also, Lojack cost only at the max $499. Always read the fine print on these two extra costs - we had our truck stolen and gap did not cover the difference (due to the fine print that you cannot extend a payment for any reason or it eliminates this option) so we ended up paying on a vehicle we did not have for over 3 years..........
Don't let the dealership call the shots.....they are making their monies on the overage that they sell you......be smart and do some research before you go in to purchase the extras on any bike, car, etc.
