Default gloss black..a love/hate affair

It's no big secret, my bike is gloss black. And damn, I am sick of the maintenance involved in keeping it looking great. A big part of me wants to have the local paint supply store mix me up some hot rod or denim black paint and then I will repaint the tins....Then I look at the bike and freakin love how it looks when the paint is at its best... freshly washed, waxed and free of scratch marks... of course to keep it that way is a beotch... So I fall into an indecisive pattern of leave it and do the work to keep it looking great, or embrace my lazy side, paint the bike flat black and no longer worry about waxing and surface scratches. Tough decision....

Definitely keep the gloss. Embrace the gloss, be one with the gloss, and not your perceived laziness. Beware the decadent path of denim!

Default I had my choice...

Gloss or flat black...I chose the gloss black. My first black bike. I love it.

I also have a gloss black bike and it can be a pain in the azz. I started using Meguiars Ultimate detailer between waxings and wow, that stuff is amazing. High gloss, doesn't leave swirl marks. If you want to take it step farther you can use a product called Zaino. I used it on my 350Z and it is amazing stuff, very durable and can be applied in coats.

Oh yes, the vivid black curse!

After getting my bike I realized it is just easier to ride the darn thing than worrying all the time about how it looks. I only washed my bike a total of 3 times last season and I am extremely ****.

I actually use zaino. I don't have their spray detailer stuff though. My tins are powdercoated, I figured the powdercoat would be tougher to surface scratch...nope.

Have you tried S100 Detail +Wax? Get some inexpensive cheap soft polish rags (I like the yelllow ones sold at Aid Auto), spray it on and wipe it off. Works great on the paint and chrome. Keeps the bike looking real good between full washes.

I use Lemon Pledge on just about everything (chrome and paint)...as easy as it gets! Plus it'll smell good.
