Default Bogs down under acceleration in rain

Possible reasons for my 2006 wide glide to sputter/bog down with throttle acceleration in the rain. It rode fine to work but on the way home this happened. Was thinking the heavy breather air filter got wet. It's the round one with the mesh cover over it and then the plate. Any ideas???

I know when I wash my bike with the filter cover on, it still gets water in the filter. Those "socks" don't completely stop the water from getting in. If the filter got water in the folds, opening the throttle would suck it in the intake and bog the engine. I'd take the filter off and blow it out with compressed air.

Compressed air over 30 psi will ruin a air filter. Open air cleaners in the rain with a sock will bog down in a bad down poor. Drop a gear to keep the rev's up. If your going to blow out the air filter use a leaf blower, lots of volume and not focused psi.

thanks. Dehumidifier is on high with the filter sitting right in front of it. I just wanted to be reassured I was thinking correctly.
