I haven't gotten to look at the bike yet. It's at a Harley dealer and tomorrow I will ask about what they went over on it. With only 3,000 miles would the tensioners need to be changed? I'll look at the tires for rot. Taking my buddy who was a bike mechanic for several years and his friend who still is. Hoping if it's in good shape to get them down to $8,000.

I'm in NJ near Atlantic City. Been watching eBay, here, and about 10 Craigslist locations for just that. Seems people want $10,000 for a Street Bob. I'd prefer a stock one so I can make it my own. Trying to sell my Iron, too. BTW, your FXDX looks sweet.

2005=shitty cam chain followers.
Big issue on 1999-2005 bikes are the cam chain followers.
They either need the SE cam chain follower update kit, or Gear drive conversion (S&S).
If it hasn't had either, then you need to factor in about 1K to get the issue fixed.
And yes.....3,000 miles is more than enough for a problem to surface. I pulled some out of my old bike at 1500 miles they already had DEEP grooves....and when those particles break off, they go right into your oiling system, which can cause oil starvation.
That Harley let the bikes go out with that arrangement is criminal IMHO.
