Converted pipes to true duals
Hey guys,
I took a stock set of header pipes and cut the crossovers off and welded the pipes shut. (My punched out screamin' eagle mufflers sounded fine and I couldn't justify dropping 5-6 hundred on a set of pipes!)
I can't believe the difference! The bike really seemed to pick up power as well as run better! Even my buddy said he noticed a difference in the power! (We hot rod quite a bit when we ride together!)
Does this make sense? I don't think its just in my head,it really seems to run and perform better!

Probably makes the stock system approximate 'drag pipes' ...
I'd be interested to know how the length of the stock pipes with mufflers compares to the length of drag pipes ... as I understand, there is some optimal length 42" or so, as I recall ...
I tend to agree that in theory, you should have lost a little down low up to the mid-range ... but, who knows ... would have been interesting to see before and after dyno graphs ...
