Default Triple tree pinch bolts

The other day while doing routine maintenance I noticed my right fork tube was 3/16" higher above the top tree than the left side. I got it back to where it should be and tightened everything back up to spec as noted in the manual. I went with 35 ft lbs on the pinch bolts. For some reason it seems a little light but considering the tubes could be damaged with a higher torque setting I followed the manual. Also I used blue Loctite on the threads and will be swapping the Torqs out in a few days. I have no idea how the condition occurred but glad I noticed it, good reminder to check stuff. Put 10k miles on the Dyna this year without a single issue. Happy New Year to all.

What is this?

Thanks,

Ahh, I guess you are referring to the Torx bolts.

A lot of people (including me) don't like Torx. They always seem to strip out. The first time I took my forks out I stripped one of the pinch bolts, broke off an EZ out trying to get it out and had to hammer a T50 into it that luckily worked. Mine are all not hex key bolts that I have more faith in.

I noticed the same thing on my fork tube...right after the dealer had replaced the seals....they will never touch my bike again
