Default whats benifit wrapping exhaust

Are there any performance benefits to wrapping an exhaust. Just wondering what all the benefits r to this. Looks kinda cool but is that it?

Well there are some advantages and some disadvantages.. if you do a search you'll find quite a few threads on this topic.

Little/nothing gained in the performance factor...wrapping the header pretty much replaces your heat shields so it acts as the heat barrier vs. clamped-on metal shields.

Wrapping motorcycle exhaust is supposed to make high temperature exhaust gases which have lower density than low temperature exhaust gases. The higher temperatures are maintained, which in turn lower the density of the exhaust gas. Lower density exhaust gases travel through the exhaust system faster. I think this does not work, but it will rust your exhaust system, because if it gets wet and the wrapping holds the moisture. Just my two cent.

i ask because on a 2 stroke there r some small performance benefits to putting on a carbon fiber exhaust guard on a expansion chamber other than protecting it from rocks. something to do with temperature. a 2 stroke benefits from heat. heat is a 4 strokes enemy. Thought maybe i was missing something. Does look kinda cool though
