Heat shield on Vance & Hines big radius 2 into 2
I rode out to Pittsburgh from Central PA this weekend to visit a few buddies. Saturday night while rtiding, I heard a loud metalic sound of something bouncing off the road. When we got off the interstate and looked the bikes over we noticed my top rear heat shield had fallen off. The muffler clamps that held it were still in place. It appears that the tig welds snapped. I was more than pissed when I discovered this. There didn't seem to be any warning or any different sound prior to it falling off. Has anyone else ever had a heat shield weld malfuntion? How much can I expect to pay for a replacement from Vance & Hines?

Reviving a 3+ year old thread because the same thing happened to me.
Just lost the rear heat shield for the rear cylinder pipe on my V&H 2into2 black pipes. Got home Friday, went to cover bike and noticed it was gone. I had no warning the thing was even loose. The hose clamps holding old pieces of the shield mounting channel still on fine. Looks like the mounts on the heat shield rusted through and off the shield went.
I bought the pipes in the spring of 2013, I believe. My bike is kept outside under a cover in the midwest. I have been caught in several rainstorms. I rode about 10 to 12 continuous hours in driving rain last October while on a road trip.
Waiting to hear how much a replacement shield is going to cost.
