Wasnt sure where to post this...here... or over in the EVO section.

Whats the largest rear tire I can fit on a 1997 Wide Glide?

Im looking at a 140/90......should fit no problem right?

The stock is 130/90..plus Im running a softail custom solid rim.

I didnt want to force a huge tire on it.

Man.... if I keep looking maybe theres a thread showing how they look....Ive been looking...and Ill keep looking.

The 140 should fit...check belt clearance (1 1/4"). You can run a 150 on the stock wheel, but with a 1 1/8" belt.

I went to a 180 - 18" x 5.5" wheel, 3/4" or 20mm belt, softail fender, and had the fender horns cut and re-welded.

 

I run a 140/90-16 Avon Venom on my 97 and it fits fine with no clearence issues.

How much space between the belt and the tire....must be barely a quarter inch?

Right now I have about a half inch barely... from belt to tire.
