Default 700 mile trip

I have to go to NC from FL some time next month. I have never done a run that far on my Bike. I have to do it in one day, I have to work the next day. What do you think? AM I crazy? Any advice? I plan on traveling as light as possible.

My advice is to leave early, even before day break if necessary, to allow for some short rest breaks and to arrive before dark. Drink lots of water. Even if you don't wear ear plugs use them on longer rides like this. Enjoy the ride!

long freeway shots are boring. stop often and wander around to clear your head.

wow, 700 miles in one day! I've driven coast to coast a few times and I must say that 700 miles a day, even in a car, kinda sucks... I would do my best to try and make it a two day trip. Just to be safe.

First 200 miles seem to take forever after that they just seem to fly by in 100 mile increments. No matter how hard you try, you most likely will average 50 miles every hour over the course of the day after gas/food/stretching stops. Plan 14 hours minimum. If you smoke, get a torch lighter and keep going.........................

700 miles in a day is a challenge, but not impossible. Longest I've done in a day is 450, and I felt pretty good after that, but I don't know if I could have done another 450. Of course the last 80 miles was a downpour, so that doesn't help. Stop often, stretch, stay hydrated. When I stop I figure out how many miles until the next stop, and set my trip odometer. Mentally it breaks it up into several short 100-150 mile trips.

I'm just outside of Savannah about a mile off I95. If you're coming this way, don't hesitate to give me a shout. Tools, shower, lunch, whatever.
