They bend real easy, almost a one time use clip. I bought a few some time back, if your real careful you might be able to reuse em.

How about an e-clip?

Just pick them up at somewhere like Menards or Lowes. Don't need to go to HD for these clips.

I've driven 3500 miles without one on my clutch lever. To tell you the truth I don't even know or care where it went.

i tried some at lowes but they dont fit tight, i pulled the breaks and it popped right off.. has anyone else ever tried something easier than using the spacer and clip,,like make a bolt with a long shaft and a nut at the bottom?

After realizing one set of pliers wouldn't handle all the weird size clips out there with different size holes for the pliers. .I got this on Amazon:

http://www.amazon.com/Astro-Pneumatic-9401-10-Piece-Pliers/dp/B0014DKIK4/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1385481004&sr=8-5&keywords=retaining+ring+pliers http://www.amazon.com/Astro-Pneumatic-9401-10-Piece-Pliers/dp/B0014DKIK4/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1385481004&sr=8-5&keywords=retaining+ring+pliers

It can do giant circlips like the clutch hub or main drive gear bearing (that one is massive and takes a lot of force to compress) or little tiny ones like the shifter jackshaft.

I've gone years without one too.

Then this summer had my front brake pivot pin come out on a trip through the mountains. Made me have to go a lot slower. No front brakes. What a bitch, it really put a damper on the run back.

I put good clips on now. And have plenty of spares.
