Getting my mags ready for summer and a local shop around here quoted me $300 to mount, balance, and change bearings for two wheels...this seemed really high to me...im carrying the wheels in none the less...need some input please..
Sounds high to me. I paid $30 to have a tire mounted and balanced when I carried HD wheel in to a Kawasaki dealer. HD dealer balanced a different wheel for free when I carried in wheel. No idea what new bearings would cost but I can't imagine paying over $50-$75 per wheel. I'd check around more if I were you. Or better yet, do the bearings yourself.
I just paid 35 to mount a tire, 25 to knock out the races and 20 for a new bearing set. I have to install the races and pack the bearings and set end play. I am using dyna beads to balance.
I brought both the wheels and the bearings in to the shop when it was time to replace both. Indy charged me $25 for the tire mounting and balancing and $20 to swap out the bearings, each wheel. So $90 total labor.
