As a mechanic I prefer the Baker unit. Chains dont stretch much and the M6 seems small and light duty. IMO.

SE comp is a temporary fix but there are other options like the BDL screw comp and someday Darkhorse is TBA.

I have the m6 and it seems to function well. It was a bitch to get in there but once it was in not a problem. It quieted my shifting down a little

i posted this in a thread i started in the drive train section but i guess it doesnt hurt to post it here too. originally i thought i was hearing my ipb going out but it turns out it is the roller bearing in the tranny. i took a look at it today

here is the slide part on the stock compensator. it is 06 dyna but the rotor is an 07
this picture is the worst of it

I got the SE comp for my 106 build along with the hayden. Read many fantastic reviews on the hayden over the stock ratcheting unit which way over tightens and doesn't back down.

As for the tensioner a the baker and hayden are great choices.

As for the compensator the SE is absolute insurance for your frank when you build your motor and the only choice as of now. I saw the darkhorse setup and it looks great!!!...but still in some development. The current SE Compensators are the second and improved models. The previous design starved of enough lubrication and was known to burn up.

The BDL I would never consider since it does nothing for cushioning the power transferred to the crank.

Time to get the baker bearing. Don't get another HD replacement.

Soft I can't believe you haven't abandoned HD altogether after doing it that many times. One tranny teardown was enough for me.

After changing my comp, IPB, and tensioner they quit going bad. Im re building the whole tranny this month. I should have all my parts this week. Having crap fail gives me a chance to make it better than stock. By the end of the year I will have rebuilt/repaired 95% of this bike. Next year im replacing the wiring harness.
